Flag

The NSYFL plays a brand of flag football similar to that of Eight-man football only a tackle is executed by way of pulling a flag from the ball carriers hip. It differs from traditional five-on-five or seven-on-seven flag football in the number of participants and more resembles tackle football. No shoulder pads are worn. The competitive level of flag football wears helmets to prepare the players for the transition into tackle football. Five players are required to line up on the line of scrimmage with the players on each end remaining eligible to catch and carry the ball. The interior of the line consists of two guards and a center. No special teams punts or kickoffs are executed. All PAT attempts are done two-point conversion style. A forward pass on a successful attempt is worth two points and a run on a successful attempt is worth one point. Following a score the receiving team will start first and ten from the twenty yard line on a sixty year field.
